Frequently Asked Questions
These are a few of our most-asked questions, and we want to help clarify who we are and what we do. If you have a question that's not in this list, please reach out and ask!
Is DMPW for spoken word poets?
We welcome poets of all styles! Our members range from formalists, free-form poets, spoken word poets, slam poets, etc. Note: Our monthly critique group works on the page, but the poem itself can be any style. Just let us know how you want us to read it when asking for feedback.
What does DMPW do?
We host a monthly writing night, which is a casual space where poets can dedicate writing time around other writers. It acts as an accountability space and a community building time.
We also host a monthly critique group. This is a time for poets to receive feedback on their poetry to help in their revision process -- as well as provide feedback for the others. You can find the full critique group structure and rules here.
Additionally, we have an online community you can join and an annual DMPW showcase event for our members in April.
How can I stay up to date on DMPW events?
There are a couple great ways to stay connected to all that's happening at DMPW. First, sign up to receive our newsletter in your inbox every month! This newsletter includes a message from our founder, a list of upcoming events, and any news we may have to share.
Also, join our Facebook group to interact with other members online! Plus, we're on Instagram and post our events and news there too.
